Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

Many people are turned off by meditation because they start with a practice that either is too difficult for them or doesn't suit their temperament. Whichever technique you choose, remember that sustained effort is necessary; the mind will resist settling down.

 

Guess What? - Practically EVERYONE, believes they can't do it as they have a monkey mind and can't sit still. That's why we call it a practice and you must begin where you are at - 5 minutes easily becomes 20 minutes when you stop and sit everyday; simply show up as you are. Knowing that this mental restlessness is normal for everyone is a great relief to those who take up meditation and think it's just their mind that is so crazy!

I truly believe everyone can meditate and there is a practice that suits everyone, all you need is to explore them with curiosity and find one that works for you. An experienced teacher like me can support and help you explore the options and get you set up for success . . .

Start out with five or 10 minutes each day and commit to practicing consistently.
